Primary Education

Our Primary Education is for Six (6) Years sub divided into Lower and Upper Primary. Lower Primary runs from Year one (1) to Year Three (3) and upper primary run from years four (4) to six (6).

The common objective of our primary education is to prepare young people for secondary education, become better persons and leaders.

At the primary level we maintain a class size of not more than twenty (20) students and adopt an interactive one-on-one and carefully group teams with nominated Team Leads.

Our teaching approach ensures that students acquire general education, knowledge and competences by means of the subjects they study, Team and external interactions as well as individual projects.

We adopt a mix of physical and online studies to deliver our objective for the primary level of education. All students at our primary level are required to take up coding, specialized computerized program and join at least one club or society.

Student at our primary level are required to partake in our new Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (S.T.E.M) education which is aimed to kindle students’ interest and love for STEM education.

This is done through carefully introducing engineering, coding and advanced science into our primary school teaching and learning.

Our approach to STEM is to engage children in interdisciplinary STEM subjects through an engineering context. Children are taught how to create units of work with the guidance of specialized teachers so they can design and solve engineering problems and activities by applying coding, mathematics, science and technology concepts. Coding is compulsory at our primary level.

Currently our STEM program focus on group assignments where children are given an overview of research projects with expectation of evidence of positive outcome, our students also have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from other schools on future STEM activities and ideas.

Our STEM program is aimed at give our students a head start on building the STEM skills, capabilities and literacies needed to succeed in a world of fast technological change. Introduction of engineering activities in our primary school educational system will help them build a lifelong love and curiosity in STEM to enhance their knowledge and reediness to face the world ahead

Core Concepts of Our STEM Education

Key concepts of our STEM education are to train our students to:

  1. understand good models of integrated STEM through an engineering context
  2. design and practicalise/implement STEM in primary years
  3. use research-based practice in STEM application

Each segment of our primary education (lower and upper primary) has its specific range of compulsory subjects that are common for all pupils. In addition, each segment offers a number of different specialized studies packages and elective subjects for the pupils to choose between.

Our education programs also contain multi-subject courses, among other things with the object of strengthening the pupils’ preparedness for further study. This is to enhance the pupil’s ability to apply knowledge and methods from several subjects to illustrate interdisciplinary themes and problems as well as the ability to compare the subjects’ knowledge and methods.

Aspire run a blend of Montessori and Cambridge curriculum for early years and a strategic blend of Cambridge and G.E.S curricula at the lower and upper primary.

Aspire has developed a system that ensures quality development and results assessment for all levels of education.

All our teachers must have at minimum a degree in education or its equivalent. Teachers must complete a relevant course as part of our Continuing Professional Development (CPD).in educational theory and practice before or subsequent to their appointment at the school.
